New web site coming - In case you have not noticed I did not pos a newsletter in May and June, and for that I apologize. I have been working very hard over the last few months to build a new, more modern website. Believe it or not, the existing one is maintained using Microsoft Publisher 1997 - software released back when few people had internet and email, the iPod was just an idea and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was around the 10,000 level for the first time. The new one will have a cleaner look, use active menus, have links to current financial news and be much easier to maintain. The new site and its features are currently being reviewed by Dundee's marketing and compliance departments and I hope to have it ready by the end of July.
Summer vacations - Dave and Carole will not be away for any extended periods this summer. As our daughters are now 19 and 16, summer schedules are not the same as when they were younger and we are adapting. Instead, we will take a few days here and there. Here are known "away from the office" days so far:
July 2
July 12-15
July 23-27
It may take a day or two longer than usual for me to get back to you over the summer as my connectivity is greatly reduced at the cottage, but I will certainly act quickly if I receive an urgent email or voice mail.
Money manager report - I recently met with John Arnold, the lead manager of AGF Global Value, AGF International Stock and AGF European Equity. These funds have a styrong concentration in European retail banks and insurance companies and so have seen their prices decline more than average in recent months as investors fret over Greek debt and the situation in other Euro countries. I have a report almost ready to go and will release it as soon as it has been reviewed by Dundee.
Enjoy your summer - Summer passes all too quickly in Ottawa. Before you know it the kids will be back in school and leaves changing colour. From Carole, Dave and our family, we wish you a great summertime and hope there are some really memorable days - whether just relaxing around home, visting the new water park in Limoges, being a tourist in your own town or traveling. We look forward to hearing about some of your adventures during meetings in the fall.
