Money manager report - after spending time with AGF manager John Arnold in June, I wrote up a three page report which is now linked from this page. In the second quarter of 2010 some investors were anxiously selling the shares of European companies and John's funds saw significant price declines.  Once again, the world did not end and his funds did extremely well in July.  Rational investors learn to ignore the noise of daily and monthly market moves and focus on the underlying business fundamentals.  If you own any AGF funds and are worried about them, please read this report as it likely pertains to your fund.

Just back from a conference - In late July I attended a two day conference where I heard from more than a dozen speakers, including the Bank of Canada, the Ontario Revenue Minister, Moody's, Desjardins Insurance, AGF, The Canadian Taxpayers Federation and others, who explored topics from financial planning for divorce and separation, economic conditions and causes of the recent financial crisis to tax changes affecting RESP's and retirement planning, investor psychology and investment opportunities in the US and Europe.  I will write up some detailed commentary for a future newsletter and am happy to discuss any topics with interested clients.
